The
requirements for filing an application in Angola are as follows:
(a)
Power of Attorney (signed, notarised and legalised up to an Angolan
consul or with an Apostille in accordance with the provisions
of the Hague Convention) - can be late filed within two months;
(b) Specification, claims, drawings, and abstract in Portuguese
- required on the day of filing;
(c) Assignment of Invention (signed, notarised and legalised up
to an Angolan consul or with an Apostille in accordance with the
provisions of the Hague Convention) - can be late filed within
three months; and
(d) Certified copy of the priority document with verified Portuguese
translation - can be late filed, within three months.
The
application can be filed with an English specification provided
a verified Portuguese translation is filed within one week of
the application filing date.
We
estimate that the cost for filing a patent application in Angola
will be between about US$ 1800.00 and US$ 2000.00 (including the
first annuity which is payable upon filing the application). Late
filing of documents incurs a further charge of about US$ 200.00
per filing (not per document). The translation of any documents
from English to Portuguese will cost about US$ 20.00 per 100 words,
if required.
